The annual GSE UK Conference "zOOM into the 6th Decade with GSE", held on 4 & 5 November, was a big success. Whittlebury Hall, in Northants, also proved to be an excellent new venue for both delegates and vendors alike.
The RSM Partners stand was busy and took a Formula 1 theme with the prize draw this year for a Single Seater Driving Experience at Silverstone. The lucky winner was Nikos Zarras from Barclays Bank.

In 2008, IT consultancy Strategic Systems Solutions (SSS) commenced the UK's first Advanced IT Apprenticeship. Their objective was to address the growing IT skills gap and create the next generation of mainframe developers. The award winning program has received much interest and positive feedback from the industry; not least from SSS's clients for whom the apprentices are now doing real work. Given this success SSS is planning to repeat the program next year.
